Messieurs Edes & Gill, as the following reflections taken
from a manuscript proposed for the press may seem somewhat
seasonable at this period, be pleased to offer them to the
public. I am, gentlemen, yours, &c. Cato of Utica.
Shall at this area all our hopes expire,
And weeping freedom from her fanes retire,
Shall proud oppression still our peace pursue,
From the pain'd eyebrow drink the vital dew.
One of our own poets.
